You know, this probably isn't that important or anything, but I kinda noticed this trend the other day. Like, whenever someone brings up self-defense, it's always magic or some sort of weapon.

Maybe... No, I'm pretty sure this is a biased opinion, but why doesn't anyone ever ask to learn martial arts? I'm not gonna stupidly start yelling that martial arts is the best, but, it's got it's advantages over magic and weapons, right?

I guess, well, I'm just complaining that I never hear someone say "Let me learn martial arts!" when it comes to protecting themselves. I don't think I'd like, be the best teacher, but, I probably could get someone started... that is, if I'm not the only one.

Well sure. You can use nets too. Really there's a lot of options when there's something on your line. Still, that has nothing to do with the Avatar.

Fishing doesn't have anything to do with avatars either...
markofthewise: (Yeah. No.)

... yes. That's what I'm trying to tell you.

Well, neither of us are talking about fishing. What ARE you talking about then? An avatar must be something totally different to you...
markofthewise: (Of course I am!)

The Avatar is the bridge between the Physical World and the Spirit World. He's the guy that keeps the balance between the four elements and the four nations. He's also a funny bald kid with an arrow on his head.

I think I saw a kid like that once. But, lots of people come and go.

Uh... so, anyway, yeah. The avatar I was talking about is a picture that you use uhm... that represents yourself when you use a thing called a computer. It's basically like, a drawing you use of yourself when talking to people really far away.

Yeah. Aang was here before. In fact, he was here recently... but he didn't stay long.

[Anyway. That's not a happy subject.] Kind of like the little pictures here on the journal?
markofthewise: (Yeah. No.)

That doesn't anything like Avatars back home. Weird.

Weird how the same word means totally different things somewhere else.

Yeah.

But anyway, we were talking about martial arts.

Oh yeah. You were saying yours was named after an avatar thingy. But you never said WHAT it was called, did you?

Er, that is what it's called. It mostly involves fighting with fans, but you don't have to use the fans for the style?

[identity profile] kenpo-kitty.livejournal.com 2010-04-09 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
So... it's called Avatar? Sounds like one of those fancy, mostly-for-show types. I mean, with the fans...
markofthewise: (Really?)

Just... Kyoshi style. And I thought the same thing at first.

Never heard of it, but, kay.
